Made-to-measure wedding dress sewn online and sent to a bride in Russia

When people think of made-to-measure from a distance they think of the United States, Australia or Japan. Russia comes up less often — but we have made a full set for one couple there: the bride’s wedding dress, a mermaid cut in silk satin, and a deep red áo dài for both bride and groom.

The dress that went to Russia

The bride and the studio worked together entirely remotely: we advised on the designs, she chose, and the dress was made and sent. When it arrived it was what both sides had agreed on.

Not only the wedding dress

We also make the áo dài — the traditional Vietnamese wedding dress — to measure — for this couple in Russia, a traditional deep red áo dài with light crystal beading for both of them. The owner of the studio advises, guides the measuring and sews it herself, so nothing passes through an intermediary.

How the measuring works from that far

We send an illustrated guide and then measure together on a video call rather than leaving you to manage alone. When the numbers do not agree, we ask you to measure a second time so we can cross-check. Fabrics and samples go in front of the camera, and the design and the cost are settled in messages before anything begins. Because the dress is sewn to those measurements with no allowance to let out afterwards, measuring is the most important step of all — and it is why we do not take rush orders from brides abroad.

How a dress reaches Russia

We send measuring instructions with pictures and take the measurements together with you on a video call; in some cases we ask you to measure again so the two sets can be checked against each other. The pattern is cut for your measurements alone, never from a stock shape, and the dress is sewn exactly to them with no extra fabric left for later alterations — which is why measuring is the most important step. When the dress is finished, before it is packed, we photograph it and send you those pictures: the finished dress, not stages of production. It is folded in layers with anti-crease padding, wrapped against moisture and sent with a carrier chosen for that route, with a tracking number. We do not take rush orders for brides abroad; the schedule is counted back from the wedding date.
